A FAMILY has a spooky souvenir of their trip to Tassie after an eerie apparition ghosted into a snap taken of the Poultney family at Port Arthur's Trentham Cottage.

Tasmanian-born Adam Poultney was taking a few run-of-the-mill pictures of his wife, Tania, and their children Tarrah, 10, and Lochlan, 7 without realising he'd captured what appears to be the image of a ghost dressed in a "wide-brim hat and a long coat".

It wasn't until the next day when Tarrah was going through the photos - taken with a digital camera - that the family realised a ghost had haunted some of their captured memories.

"The kids were very excited to see a ghost," Mr Poultney said.

"They kept asking: 'When are we going to see a ghost, dad?', but we walked away without actually seeing one.

"But when Tarrah started going through the photos, she noticed this ghostly apparition standing behind the fly-screen at Trentham Cottage."

Phantoms and Monsters yet again provide a fascinating story.

An extraordinary and controversial milieu has developed around events that reportedly began late on the evening of Thursday, October 4th, 2001, at a Gundiah property near Tiaro, culminating in the early hours of Friday, October 5th, 2001, and then played out in the glare of rapidly escalating media coverage.
Three people were directly involved in these alleged events. Keith Rylance (40), his wife Amy (22), and their business partner, Petra Heller (39) were on their property, which was being developed as “Whispering Winds” winery. Other potential activities were also being developed at the location. The following account comes from interviews conducted by us with them, along with primary source material such as TV interviews.
Keith Rylance told us that he had gone to sleep in the caravan bedroom at about 9.30 pm. Petra retired to her bedroom in the caravan annex. Amy stayed on a couch watching TV in the caravan annex “lounge room”. Each of these locations were in close proximity, separated by a window and wall respectively from the lounge room. Petra’s room had a door leading to the lounge room, which was left ajar. The door to the bedroom, where Keith was, apparently was open to the lounge room. Amy apparently fell asleep on the couch. A storm was in the area.
Around 11.15 pm, Petra was reportedly woken up and when she entered the adjacent lounge was confronted by an extraordinary sight, that allegedly quickly overwhelmed her. A rectangular beam of light was being projected through the open window of the caravan lounge room. This light beam appeared to be truncated at the end. Inside the beam Petra claims to have seen Amy in a sleep prone position, being carried out head first through the window. Underneath her, also within the beam were the items that had been on the coffee table adjacent to the couch Amy had been on. Before apparently fainting in shock Petra saw that the beam was coming from a disc shaped UFO hovering just above the ground a short distance away, near a tree at the rear of the clear section, immediately behind the annex caravan house.

UFO chases car on Territory Highway

A Territory man was involved in a wild UFO chase on the Stuart Highway in a desperate bid to avoid abduction.

The man, who only wants to be known as Aiden said he was about an hour south of Tennant Creek, when a bright light approached him from behind.

"I was traveling south of Tennant Creek on my way to Melbourne. I had left Tennant around 3.30am after spending the night there and about an hour after I had set off I looked in my side mirror and noticed a light behind me.
"I thought nothing of it as it was probably another car."

Aiden said he noticed the light getting brighter.

"I thought geez they must be driving fast as I was doing 120kph.
"When I looked again after a few minutes the light was really bright but it was in the bloody sky."

Aiden said when he noticed the light was not coming from another car or truck behind him he "started to get freaked out and put the foot down a bit more".

"Then I looked back again and this time the light was huge and the most brightest light I had ever seen but the strange thing is that the light had like an orange colour to it but was white at the same time.

"The light was about the size of a large car and stayed with me for around 20 to 30 mins.

"There was also like a faint drone as well but at the time I put it down to road noise but who knows."

Aiden said he was sure the mysterious light was not another car when he came to a windy stretch of road.
"I went around a bend on the road (and) it was still behind me in the same spot even when the road went left and right," he said.

"It was I suppose about 700 to 800 metres behind me in the sky.
"I said to myself: No, no, not me, go and take someone else, I am not interested."

Aiden said when he looked in the mirror again the light had suddenly disappeared.

"It was gone ... completely, so I stopped got out and there was no light to be seen anywhere at all," he said.
"That freaked me out heaps and in some strange way got me hooked as well due to witnessing something that was incredible to see and thinking this is not from here."

Territory top UFOlogist Alan Ferguson said the sighting was not a surprise.

"This has happened many times to people travelling down the track here in the Northern Territory," he said.
He said two of his friends have had a simular experience a couple years ago when they were heading to UFO hotspot Wycliffe Well, south of Tennant Creek.

"They were travelling late at night and the same thing happened that a light started to follow them.
"As it got close they would freak out then the light would go back for awhile then speed up.
"Then - just like Aiden'ss sighting - it just disappeared without a trace."

Mr Ferguson said sightings of lights in the sky at the Wycliffe Well area have been around for tens of thousands of years.
"The Aborigines called them 'min min' lights," he said.

A LAUNCESTON man has described as "spooky" an unexplained flashing object he saw in the night sky above Mayfield last week.

The lights flashed white and green for several minutes before turning out in the sky high above the tree line, he said.

Brendon Hill first saw the flashing lights on Thursday night from his backyard balcony at Riverside.

He then witnessed the same lights on Saturday night.

"On Thursday I dragged my three mates outside to show them and they were bewildered - none of them could describe what they saw or could come up with an explanation of what it was," Mr Hill said.

Mr Hill looked at the site of the flashing lights through his binoculars the next day and said he could not see anything that would generate the same pulsing light.

"There are no buildings or towers in that area that could generate that much light - it was very strange how I couldn't see anything during the day," he said.

On Saturday about 9pm Mr Hill saw the flashing lights again and this time caught them on his video camera.

"It made my hair stand up on my neck," he said.

Motorist Catches Sight Of A Yowie

WHAT'S more than two metres (six foot) tall, solidly built and covered in shaggy hair?

If your answer was “that guy down at the local,” you're probably right but it's also a common description of a mythical Australian creature known as a yowie, a specimen of which has been reportedly spotted near Centenary Dr, north of Grafton.

A Hunter Valley man named Dean, who did not wish to be identified further, thinks he may have caught a glimpse of one of the creatures, a kind of an Australian version of Bigfoot, as he was driving along the section of road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Dean, whose work sees him driving more than 5000km a week around NSW, was travelling south along the Pacific Hwy, north of Grafton just before 2.30am when he took the Centenary Dr bypass. Shortly after turning into the road he saw something that shook him to the core.

“I reached the top of the hill and I was coming around the sweeping corner to the right when I noticed something a lot larger than a kangaroo in the middle of the road – my headlights weren't on it yet but it was a bright night and I saw what looked like a large person stooped over, with a big overcoat on,” Dean said.

“At the time I thought ‘you silly old thing, what are you doing in the middle of the road at this time of the morning', but next thing I knew my headlights started to light it up and it took one giant step off the road, it went from standing up like a person to going down on all fours and then it disappeared into the scrub in about three bounds.”

Dean, who is used to night-driving and fatigue management, slowed down and was looking into the scrub for the creature and said he saw it silhouetted against the sky.

“It had an almost sort of a square, shaggy block head sitting straight on its shoulders – I'm a pretty big guy but it made me absolutely awe-struck how huge its body was – it had its arm up against a tree and it had about a foot of hair hanging from under its biceps.”

He estimated the creature to be at least two metres tall and covered in what looked like jet-black hair.

Dean said he had no idea what to think until he described the incident to colleagues later who said it was similar to yowie-sighting stories they'd heard in their travels.

Since then Dean said he had been researching ... to rationally explain what he saw but has yet to find a satisfactory answer.

The Panther In Appin

THE mysterious Macarthur panther has been spotted again - but this time a glimpse of the animal has been captured on film.

Camden’s Paul Fuller and Jarred Seedsman, both 17, were trailbike riding in bushland at Appin on Tuesday when they filmed the panther-like creature. It is believed to be the first footage ever shot of the elusive beast, which has been seen repeatedly across the Macarthur and Sydney regions for more than a decade.

Jarred was filming their ride near the Appin motocross centre using a mobile phone attached to his bike’s handlebars. He captured Paul’s shock at seeing the cat as well as the creature crossing the track ahead of the riders.

My opinion: The video itself is not compelling evidence. The "panther" looks too small and the video is such bad quality its hard to tell what the thing is anyway...

If we ignore the video, the witness testimony does back up a lot of the claims of the area where panthers have been spotted previously all around the Sydney area.

THEY are haunting images of bedlam - a Sydney lunatic asylum which opened more than 170 years ago.

An exhibition by photographer Yvette Worboys titled Ghosts has captured eerie images of the former Gladesville Mental Hospital, which opened in November 1838 and closed in 1997.

Worboys, who has lived in the area most of her life, said she was drawn to the partly derelict hospital by its residual energy.

"There is quite a presence, an energy, there," Worboys said.

More than 1200 patients are buried in unmarked graves on the property. Ms Worboys said psychics asked to analyse her photos believed there was a presence in them.

Politician’s yowie encounter

BILL O’Chee can remember it like it was yesterday. It was the day the former Queensland National Party senator came face to face with a creature straight out of a nightmare.

A young O’Chee was with a group of 20 fellow TSS students returning from a two-day camp near Springbrook when they saw what they described as a 3m tall hair-covered creature.

To this day, Mr O’Chee is certain what he saw was the mythical yowie.

He told The Gold Coast Bulletin on November 17, 1977 that the animal approached the boys’ camp on several occasions, at one stage coming within 10m of their cabins.

“About 20 of us saw it,” he said then.

“It was about 3m tall, covered in hair, had a flat face and walked to the side in a crab-like style.

“It smashed small saplings and trees like matchsticks as it careered through the bush, we spotted it several times and once watched it through binoculars. It definitely was there.

“We first saw it just before we returned back to Southport on the afternoon of October 23.”

Contacted this week, Mr O’Chee was happy to confirm the story and said his memory of what he saw was as clear to him today as it was 27 years ago.

Do you believe in ghosts or are you a sceptic?

In the Tasmanian town of New Norfolk stories about apparitions, strange sudden smells and unearthly happenings at the site of the former mental asylum have been circulating the local community and more recently the internet.

A former mental health hospital, Willow Court has unofficially become a drawcard for people who believe in the supernatural.

Now the Derwent Valley Council is determined to find out once and for all if there is any truth to the stories.

Councillors recently voted in favour of a paranormal investigation in at least two of the wards still standing.

A team of three from the Australian Paranormal Investigation Unit are now planning a two or three night stay in ward C and Alonnah that once housed the criminally insane.

Decommissioned by the Tasmanian Government in the 1990s, some of the wards have been knocked down to make way for development. Others are still empty - trashed by vandals.

Glenn Hevey, Nick Jarvis and Aiden Sullivan have long held an interest in Willow Court and the supernatural.

"I've loved it all my life," former New Norfolk boy Nick Jarvis said.

"What spurred my interest even more was the paranormal side of Willow Court and almost on a daily basis I've been getting reports of people seeing things and hearing things."

Three years ago, the three young men decided to get serious and set up the Australian Paranormal Investigations Unit.

They contacted the local Derwent Valley Council and the small team of ghost busters were given official council approval to investigate three wards that once housed the criminally insane.

"We went through the appropriate channels went through council, the committee endorsed it and it was voted on and approved. So it was a long process and we're pretty happy to be in that position," Mr Jarvis said.

The three men are certain there is a spiritual presence at the site, but believe it or not they have never had the camera when a spirit has appeared.

"When I was driving down the main avenue here at Willow Court, I was driving over some of the speed humps and the headlights shone on a white apparition figure," Mr Jarvis said.

This time they are determined to record a presence.

"We've got voice recorders to capture electronic voice phenomena, including static or stray noises. We've got electromagnetic field metres to hopefully capture any presences. We've got cameras, and we've got temp guns which we use with temperature readings to work out if there are any temperature spikes or drops," Mr Jarvis said.

Sceptic Leyon Parker wishes the team luck, but holds little hope for success.

"I think it's a waste of time," he said.

"I suppose people can choose to waste their time any way they like. If these people want to waste their time looking for ghosts that don't exist it's not my job to tell them they shouldn't do that."

To be convinced he says he would need "photographic evidence, there would have to be electronic recordings of some sort, the clearer the better, probably accompanying eyewitness accounts and it would certainly help if there was a sceptical mind there at the time this occurred".

ALONG with a beautiful, heritage-listed location and a renowned collection of artworks, it seems Grafton Regional Gallery can now boast another draw card – its very own resident ghost.

Members of the Queensland Paranormal Research and Analysis Group (QPRAG) recently conducted a night time paranormal investigation at the gallery's historic Prentice House in Fitzroy St based on reports from visitors and volunteers of ghostly occurrences there over the years.

After going over hours of data collected on the night from video cameras, digital voice recorders and electromagnetic field (EMF) meters, the results are in and the team believe they have found strong evidence of paranormal activity.

“Our conclusion is the gallery is rated a Category: 2 (Paranormal Activity captured but no visual evidence),” said Chris, one of the investigation team leaders.

This means the data gathered by the group ticked many of the boxes indicating paranormal activity, except for the holy grail of ghost-hunting – capturing an apparition on video or camera.

However, what the team did get were several digital sound recordings containing what they believe is Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP), which is unexplained recorded sounds or voices.

The team sent these recordings to The Daily Examiner.

One of the recordings contains a male-sounding voice clearly and commandingly saying “go!”, while another contains what also sounds like a male voice saying something unintelligible.

These recordings turned-up on digital sound recorders placed near the gallery's staircase, which became a focal point of the overall investigation.

Bizarre In The News - More questions raised in Fisher's Ghost murder CSI

A “CRIME scene investigation” of Fred Fisher’s murder probably produced more questions than answers, according to Campbelltown & Airds Historical Society president Jackie Green.

But, she said, that was to be expected as one bit of information or question triggered another one.

Ms Green said the new approach to the incident was very well received, with 22 adults and three children taking advantage of the History Week event recently.

The partipants took part in a round-table discussion, viewed primary source material and visited the scene of the crime and the properties of both the victim and the accused George Worrall.

Ms Green said several amateur historians attended, as did a teacher, a home school mother and several private researchers.

While the scrutiny did not unearth any new facts, she said, a conspiracy theory did emerge.

“The conspiracy suggested the police had made out Fisher was murdered so they could get hands on his land,” she said.

Fishers Ghost:

The legend of Fisher's ghost is a popular Australian story dating to the early 19th century. It arose from a series of historical events which occurred in Campbelltown, now a large urban population centre on the southwestern outskirts of Sydney, but at the time a remote rural outpost.

In 1826 a Campbelltown farmer named Fred Fisher suddenly disappeared. His friend and neighbour George Worrall claimed that Fisher had returned to England, and that before departing had given him power of attorney over his property and general affairs. Later, Worrall claimed that Fisher had written to him to advise that he was not intending to return to Australia, and giving his farm to Worrall.

Four months after Fisher's disappearance a respectable local man named John Farley, ran into the local hotel in a very agitated state. He told the astonished patrons that he had seen the ghost of Fred Fisher sitting on the rail of a nearby bridge. Farley related that the ghost had not spoken, but had merely pointed to a paddock beyond the creek, before disappearing.

Initially Farley's tale was dismissed, but the circumstances surrounding Fisher's disappearance eventually aroused sufficient suspicion that a police search of the paddock to which the ghost had pointed was undertaken - during which the remains of the murdered Fisher were discovered buried by the side of a creek. George Worrall was arrested for the crime, confessed, and subsequently hanged. Fred Fisher, whose lands he had coveted, was buried in the cemetery at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Campbelltown.

It is thought by some that the story of the ghost may have been invented by Farley as a way of concealing some other speculated source of his knowledge about the whereabouts of Fisher's body, but this cannot be confirmed. Contemporary police and court records do not mention the ghost story - but they are also silent on how the authorities knew where to look for Fisher's body.

The legend of Fisher's ghost has since entered popular folklore, and is celebrated during Campbelltown's annual Fisher's Ghost Festival which commences early November concluding mid month. The creek beside which the body was discovered is known as Fisher's Ghost Creek. It has now however been converted into mostly a storm water drain.

WOLLONDILLY Council wants businessman John Vincent to bring Picton Ghost tours back from the dead and has offered to help him prepare a development application that could ensure its survival.

After months of wrangling with the council over operating conditions to be placed on his 13-year-old business, Mr Vincent "gave up the ghost" in December and stopped the tours.

Mr Vincent was initially critical of council's treatment of his business but was "feeling better" after a meeting with the council on Thursday and indicated the closure might not be permanent.

Wollondilly Council has asked the business to submit a development application seeking formal permission for tour groups to visit three sites owned by the council in Picton.

DO you ever hear children playing when you’re all alone?

Do you detect sour smells you can’t explain or do your doors keep slamming?

If so, you might benefit from the free services of Kade Jones and Lara Jeffcoat, of Haunted Australia.

Mr Jones, who has researched ghosts in Tasmania, recently moved to Mackay and is looking for potentially haunted locations to explore.

“It’s an obsession, basically,” Mr Jones said. “We research potentially haunted locations. It’s not a fact of just saying ‘hey, there’s ghosts’. You’ve got to delve into the history and find out what has happened there.

“It is amazing what you find out.”

Mr Jones said people who believed they knew of haunted sites could contact him for assistance.

He also investigates places on his own, and claims he has photographed some orbs, which indicate ghost-like activity, in Mackay, including at the Sydney Street Markets, where the Mater Hospital used to stand.

Mr Jones said he was very cautious of orbs in photographs, as they could be caused by dust or water.

“What we look for in an orb is concentric circles inside one another.

“If it’s just a normal haze or a blob we discard it there and then.”

Bizarre In The News - Vintage Spirit: Ghost watch at Magill

VIDEO surveillance equipment has been installed in a historic cottage at Penfold’s Magill Estate Winery in an attempt to explain strange happenings, which many believe are the work of a resident ghost.

The sensors and video equipment were installed in the 1840s Grange Cottage late last year after a series of alarms in the cottage were mysteriously triggered.

Cellar Door manager John Miller believes the cellar is haunted by Mary Penfold, whose husband Dr Christopher Penfold founded the winery 167 years ago.

He says staff recall many eerie events over the years, including a tea cup with Mary Penfold’s intials on it inexplicably moving around the cottage and a female voice being heard across the vineyards.

The strange activity ceased about 20 years ago, however the mystery was reignited last October when alarms started sounding without explanation.

Magill Estate site services co-ordinator Shane Carter says the alarms sound after dark and sometimes up to three times a night.

“Initially we put it down to the new (security) system and a few technical issues ... but that all got sorted out and we were still getting strange activity,” Mr Carter says.

“It’s different down there at night, it has a very strange feeling and it’s very isolated.”

Picton ghost tours forced to shut down

PICTON is world famous for being a hive of supernatural activity, but it is now in mortal danger of becoming a different type of ghost town.

Business leaders in the rural community, southwest of Sydney, are mourning the death of the town's ghost tours after the local shire council forced the closure of the popular attraction.

The business was forced to shut its doors after residents complained the tours attracted hooligans who trespassed, threw eggs at houses, screamed late at night and did burnouts in their cars.

Seven people lost their jobs and the Picton Chamber of Commerce fears more could be at risk with petrol stations, restaurants and motels directly affected.

"It's an absolute farce, I am bewildered that any minority group can force a business out," chamber president Karl Klein said.

"The [problems] have nothing to do with people who go on the tours, it's other galahs out there."

Is the NT a UFO hotspot?

A UFO said to look like a secret Area 51 government plane shown on YouTube was seen last week by a Darwin man.

The man, who wanted only to be known as Brian, said he was having a beer and a smoke outside his unit in Sunset Drv about 9.30pm on Thursday when he saw a large, black flying triangle with lights on the side.

"I thought it was a plane but all it made was humming sounds," he said.

"It was maybe at the third level of my unit block just hovering and gliding.

"I wish I had my phone, my iPhone to record it."

SOMETHING strange?, here's who you got to call. A ghostbuster he is not, but if you've got a bad case of things going bump in the night then Kade Jones may be able to help.

A full-time researcher with Haunted Australia, Mr Jones is planning a trip to Cairns in search of haunted sites in the area and is asking locals to report any spooky events they have experienced.

Mr Jones said paranormal activity could happen at homes, tourism areas, old hospital grounds, historic cane cottages, or any other places where people have died.

Against popular belief, Mr Jones said it doesn’t have to be a violent death for a haunting to occur.

"It could be a location where someone has enjoyed living and they don’t want to leave because it was a happy place for them," he said.

People should look out for objects moving on their own, unusual presences, orbs and out-of-focus patches in photographs, unexplained sounds or even a strange sour or floral smell.

Mr Jones will visit the sites to take photographs, films, and readings which might indicate paranormal activity.

He said it was important to have an open mind, and would always look for the most logical explanation first.

A PROSPECTOR who went to find gold in the hills thinks he may have found something better - evidence that aliens really do exist.

Adam Cainero believes he captured a photograph of an alien spacecraft hovering above an escarpment near Majors Creek, in the Southern Tablelands near Braidwood.

After an unsuccessful weekend fossicking for gold Mr Cainero and a friend were making the long trip home when he stopped to take a snap of the steep mountain they had driven down.

When he got home, Mr Cainero said he realised he had found gold of another kind after all.

"I just took a picture of the mountain range and the sun was in my eyes so I just kind of pointed and shot," Mr Cainero said. "Then we looked at the picture - we were, like, no way."

With its shape and its position in the sky, Mr Cainero said he immediately knew the black object was a UFO.

"We always see really weird things as we go out to places where there is no one around," he said.

FROM BRY: It's definitely an unidentified flying object but it's not evidence aliens exist by any stretch of the imagination. As you may have gathered I am incredibly skeptical when it comes to photos of UFOs and this photo is no different. It could be anything from a fly/bug that flew in front of the lens to a piece of dirt on the lens or even a bird? And not to forget terrestrial aircraft. There are a number of rational options to explore before naming it evidence of aliens.

Bizarre In The News - Ghostbusters spooked by homestead

AN historic Murwillumbah homestead has spooked a couple of Gold Coast ghost hunters.

Paranormal investigator Judy Barr said a tour of the house in November presented her with activities she has not found an explanation for.

“On the recordings there were banging noises which we didn't hear when we were in the room,” Ms Barr said.

“We have some people looking at the recordings but no one has been able to come up with any explanation yet. It is certainly the strangest encounter yet.”

Ms Barr and her fellow investigator Marg Pettiona started Ghosts-Inc to gather information for a better understanding of ghosts, hauntings and other paranormal activity on the Gold Coast and Tweed.

“We met at work and discovered we both were interested in the paranormal,” Ms Barr said.

“We joined other groups but found they weren't what we were looking for so we decided to start our own group on the Gold Coast.

“We have five other people who help us out on investigations, and we go in looking for alternative reasons rather than searching for ghosts.”

THE producers of a new reality TV show are looking for Ballarat volunteers to participate.Producers of the ghost-hunting show Spooked want five
adventurous volunteers to accompany Australian ghost whisperer Anthony Grzelka to an undisclosed haunted location to film the pilot program on December 11.
Executive producer Keith McNamara promised a “scary”
experience for volunteers and viewers alike.
“We’re looking to shoot it mostly guerilla-style in night vision,” he said.
“We want to bring the audience in and make them feel like they’re taking on the ghost hunts first-hand.”
Grzelka is a medium with extensive experience conducting ghost tours in Western Australia.
“Anthony will be looking to evoke spirits on the show. He’ll also do some background explanation of the
locations,” Mr McNamara said.
The location of the filming is a secret, but Mr McNamara said it would be in the Ballarat area.
“We’re keeping the location secret so that our volunteers don’t do background research and then ham it up for the cameras,” he said.
“We want them to go in with an open mind.”

THERE'S something spooky going on in one of Townsville's oldest inner-city buildings.

Video footage of paranormal activity in an old CBD building has surfaced on internet site YouTube, and it has already captured the imagination of the online world, sceptics and ghost-hunters alike.

The man behind the camera, who doesn't want to reveal his identity or the location of the haunted site, has posted 12 short films from his iPhone and a hand-held camera and insists something sinister lurks in the building's basement.

The amateur ghostbuster told the Townsville Bulletin strange things had been happening at the site for a couple of months before he finally mustered the courage to try and record it on his phone.

The universe is an endlessly amazing place and every week newspapers, magazines and science blogs report on remarkable new discoveries in fields as diverse as astronomy, biology and neuroscience that help us understand it a little bit better.

But at the same time we're inundated with all sorts of claims about everything from ''alternative'' medicine to psychic mediums and those magic rubber bracelets that are so popular with footballers. This is where it pays to have a bit of healthy scepticism.

So what is a sceptic? The usual image is of a humourless, closed-minded cynic who enjoys snorting derisively and saying things such as ''Fiddlesticks! There's no such thing as ghosts!'' But that picture is a bit out of date.

Serious sceptics don't just scoff at unusual beliefs. They know that most people aren't liars or fantasists and that there's often something behind even the strangest beliefs. A good sceptic will examine the evidence for a particular claim and, if it's unconvincing, look for alternative explanations. These often turn out to be fascinating in themselves.

In the case of haunted houses, for instance, people will often report feeling sudden fear or anxiety upon entering a certain room. In some cases, this has turned out simply to be because a ventilation fan is emitting inaudible infrasound, which has been proven in experiments to induce feelings of fear.

THIS bizarre discovery on Diggers Beach, near Coffs Harbour, has given rise to a host of theories explaining what this creature might be and how it washed ashore.

The animal, roughly two foot long, was found by surfers on Father’s Day, but only now have the photos surfaced.

One of the local men who came across the animal, Peter Atkinson, is at a loss to explain it.

Countless others have also been stumped in making a positive identification.

“It was found on the high water mark and we contacted National Parks, but it appears the animal was washed back out to sea on the next tide,” Mr Atkinson said.

Suggestions have ranged from the credible to the ridiculous.

One strongly supported possibility is that it’s a type of monkey.

Others said it could be a South American sloth.

Yet web searches could not help with a positive identification.

Even the experts at Taronga Zoo were brought in on the case yesterday.

Mr Atkinson confirmed the photos were real and taken on a mobile phone, ruling out an email hoax, through several other credible witnesses.

Late yesterday a more likely explanation came through the office.

Lawrence Orel from the National Parks and Wildlife Service said on first inspection it appeared to be a brush tailed possum.

“The bushy fur on the tail gives it away I think. Possums do get that dark in colour, and it looks as though the fur may have come away from the face, but we’ll wait for positive confirmation from the zoo.”

Did reader capture image of a ghost at Pyramid Lake?

A reader named Ashif Halim submitted this photo to Online Editor Pete Krajewski that he says captures a ghostly figure at Pyramid Lake. Just behind the man in the white shirt, an image of what appears to be a little girl in a white dress can be seen. The photo's authenticity has not been confirmed, but an independent analysis was conducted by paranormal investigator Mariah Robards, who said the apparition appears to be authentic based on the fact that it has its own light source.

So did reader capture image of a ghost? In one word NO. And with all due respect - what independent analysis was conducted by Ms Robards to assess that this photo is authentic?

Sounds fun right? I just bought it for A$1.19 just so i can experiment and show how easy it is to fake photos (see below).

In some ways this makes me think we should give up looking at any ghost photos as genuine because there are so many different ways to fake them these days. When people declare fake photos genuine it gives a lack of credulity to any real ghost photos that might come along. There's always been trickery with ghost photography since the beginning of photography so this is nothing new, we just have different technology.

Here a couple of my own examples from ghosted.

Admittedly they are pretty crappy examples but with a little tinkering you could probably trick some people.

Maybe its time to accept ghosts can't be caught on film? Or more to the point if we're in the "business" of providing evidence, then ghost photos can't be presented as fact or evidence because there are too many ways to fake it.

Definition of the word paranormal from wikipedia: Paranormal is a general term (coined ca. 1915–1920) that designates experiences that lie outside "the range of normal experience orscientific explanation" or that indicates phenomena that are understood to be outside of science's current ability to explain or measure.

As most of you probably know (or have worked out) I am a paranormal geek ;) I have a huge interest in all things strange, spooky and paranormal. What I want to know is what YOU think. Do you believe in the existence of ghosts? If yes, why? If no, why not? What about other paranormal stuff like cryptozoology? (bigfoot, yowie, loch ness monster etc etc).

Are you "religious"? Does your spirituality allow for the belief in the paranormal?

I class myself as Christian. A follower of Christ and His teachings. Many people think this would mean I think all paranormal things are demonic or would not believe in any of it at all. Neither of the above statements are true for me. Yes i believe in angels and demons but I don't believe all things paranormal related lead back to angels/demons. Some yes, but definitely not all. The bible is one BIG paranormal occurrence. So, why are so many Christians reluctant to look into or believe in anything outside of their comfort zones. There are SO many things out there that we don't understand, yet we try and put it all in a box. We try and put God in a box and limit what He can and can't do. Which I personally can't do. Who knows the wonders of this world and the next?

Anyway, that is MY point of view. What is yours?

At least one claim of a possible signal from the planet has already surfaced – and been met with harsh skepticism among the science community.

Following the Sept. 29 announcement of the discovery of Gliese 581g, astronomer Ragbir Bhathal, a scientist at the University of Western Sydney, claimed to have detected a suspicious pulse of light nearly two years ago, that came from the same area of the galaxy as the location of Gliese 581g, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail online.

Bhathal is a member of the Australian chapter of SETI, a non-profit scientific organization that is dedicated to research, exploration and education in the field of astrobiology.

HORNY Kevin is not the only ghost to haunt Northern Territory families.

A Darwin family yesterday claimed to be living in a haunted house - with Harry, their ghost, scaring children in the bathroom and rattling cupboard doors.

Jahmaine Sheridan, 10, said yesterday she was "relieved" to hear there were "more ghosts out there" than the one haunting her home in Jingili.

She said she burst into tears when she saw the story about Kevin, the horny ghost, in the NT News.

"I was so glad to see it was happening to other people too," she said. "It's not just us, we are not mad."

The girl said her family has had encounters with "something very creepy and scary" in their home, since moving in three years ago.

THE accidental photograph on today's front page of a UFO over a popular tourist destination occurred only hours before a bright light buzzed the crowd at the Katherine Show.

Victorian tourist Adam Rewuk did not realise he captured the image of the flying saucer over Katherine Gorge until he looked back over his photos after the trip.

"My Dad used to be a big UFO believer, so when I saw the picture, I thought of him," he said.

"I took the photo around lunch time, but I saw nothing in the sky. I didn't realise it was there until I saw the photo."

Mr Rewuk said the image was definitely not that of a plane or a mark on the lens of the camera.

"If I zoom in on the picture, it almost looks like a diamond shape with a bubble on the bottom," he said.

Mr Rewuk said the photo was taken only a few hours before a UFO was spotted at the nearby town show.

The NT News reported on July 17 that a bright light had travelled slowly across the sky about 6.20pm.

The UFO spooked hundreds of people at the showgrounds as the sun was starting to go down.

From Bry - With all due respect to Mr Rewuk in my humble opinion I don't see anything paranormal in the photo. In fact at first I wondered where the UFO was. Then i realised it was the thing right at the top of the photograph. This could be anything? Someone on the news website suggests a tree branch creeping into the photo. I suggest dirt on the lens or even a fly? Anyone who's been up to the Northern Territory knows how many flies there are up there.
Another thing is the photographer says he didn't see it whilst taking the photo. Surely you'd notice something like a UFO in your eyeline?
Mr Rewuk also states it definitely wasn't a plane or a mark on the lens. How can he know that definitely?
What is it with things like this making the news? Its like blobsquatch but with UFOs. Same with ghost photos. A smudge is immediately a ghost! No wonder no one has any respect for people who work in the paranormal field.

MATTHEW Jones was totally unprepared for what he saw as he stood in his garage in suburban Canberra in October last year.

Packing boxes for a house move, he was confronted by a stocky, hairy monster standing in the corner of the garage staring at him.

The creature, according to James, was a juvenile covered in hair, with long arms that almost touched the ground.

"It was inquisitive about what I was doing," he said. "It was definitely trying to communicate with me."

At the time, James had no idea what the creature could be. A friend later told him it could be a yowie - the creature described in the newly-published Something Is Out There as "the big daddy of all Australian mystery monsters".

It is, according to the book about the paranormal, the Aussie cousin of North America's Bigfoot, the Himalayan Yeti and the Abominable Snowman.

The Aussie monster is as elusive as he is controversial, often seen but never photographed, according to the book's authors Julie Miller and Grant Osborn. They claim the yowie is an important part of folklore, making numerous appearances in the Dreamtime legends.

Horny ghost Kev spooks housewife

A NORTHERN Territory woman is convinced a horny ghost is haunting her home.

Jennifer Mills-Young claims the ghost, named Kevin, once tried to drag her out of bed in the middle of the night.

"I was asleep," she said. "I woke up when someone grabbed my wrist.

"I though, 'Hmmm, hubby wants a bit of romance', when I suddenly remembered he wasn't even at home."

Mrs Mills-Young said she could feel the hand around her wrist trying to pull her up and out of bed.

"The moment I opened my eyes, the grip was gone and the room was empty.

"I yelled at Kevin that he was not welcome in my bedroom and that he couldn't come into bed with me.

"I told him to f*** off and to close the door behind him. A moment later I saw how the bedroom door slowly was closed.

"I jumped up and locked it - not that it makes much of a difference when you're dealing with a ghost."

Superstitious drivers are reportedly risking their lives in an attempt to conjure the ghost of a dead motorcyclist.

Police in Port Stephens, north of Newcastle, are aware of several videos uploaded to YouTube showing young people reaching speeds of up to 180km/h along Lemon Tree Passage Rd.

The reckless driving is reportedly due to an urban legend that says the spirit of a 20-year-old motorcycle rider — who was killed in a crash by a speeding car three years ago — will appear and pursue a dangerous driver along the stretch of road.

Several videos posted online appear to show an eerie bright light suddenly emerging in the vehicles' rear windscreens.

"I undoubtedly believe in this ghost, and if you don't believe, go witness it for yourself," one YouTube user writes.

But local police are more interested in catching dangerous drivers than investigating the paranormal.

The KLC, which is defending Lenny and John Hopiga, say this means the brothers had the right to exclude people from their land and use reasonable force to defend it against trespassers.

THE producers of a chilling new documentary on paranormal activity will visit Wollondilly shire in the coming months to film at some of the region’s most iconic locations.

The Sydney-based Unreel Productions have already been to the Macquarie Arms Hotel in Windsor, the Old Dubbo Gaol, Maitland Gaol, and Monte Cristo at Junee, but have their sights on Picton’s Mushroom Tunnel, the Queen Victoria Memorial home and the Anthill Hotel.

Producer Rob Kerr, a 34-year-old former actor from Castle Hill, said he was intrigued by the area’s history of paranormal activity and the popularity of ghost hunts.

“What we really want to do is capture some of this paranormal activity on film,” he said.

“We are armed with equipment that should be able to pick up ghosts. We are using small hand-held cameras, as well as electro magnetic frequency detectors, night vision cameras, what we call a four-spectrum camera and a digital voice recorder.”

A Geelong woman charged with seriously injuring a police officer after dragging him 190m by her car has hit back at reports describing her as a witch.

Eilish De Avalon, 40, has pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court to charges including recklessly causing injury and driving while suspended over the February 23 incident.

De Avalon said she is tired of being labelled a witch because of its negative connotations, and would rather be known as a healer and an activist.

"I don't wear the label of witch comfortably," she told ninemsn.

"A lot of witches prefer the title of pagan, or in my case pagan priestess. We are healers. We are psychics."

In the February incident, De Avalon is accused of disobeying Leading Senior Constable Andrew Logan after he pulled her over for allegedly speaking on her mobile phone.

The court yesterday heard De Avalon told Sen-Const Logan she was "a being from another world" with a "universal name" that she would not disclose, theGeelong Advertiser reported.

"Your laws and penalties don't apply to me. I'm not accepting them, I'm sorry, I must go, thank you," police quoted De Avalon as saying.

Benjamin Nathaniel Munday-Barber and his friend were caught on CCTV at the former orphanage grounds, near Rockhampton, now owned by Stanwell Corporation.

IN THE 1970s, hosting a fondue night was a favourite among young married couples looking to entertain friends. Nothing said sophistication like a melted pot of cheese and skewers with bits of bread on the end and sales of fondue sets were sky high.

Alcohol played a big part at such evenings and after a few drinks and a belly full of cheese conversation could drift down unusual paths.

In a suburban Melbourne home in 1977, a young punter and his wife hosted a group of friends for a night of fondue on Melbourne Cup eve. An eccentric group gathered at their home and, sure enough, after a few too many drinks, one guest proposed that for a bit of fun the group attempt to contact spirits using a ouija board.

NZH It's after dark on a steamy night in the Blue Mountains when we gather under the Great Arch, the magnificent entrance to the famous Jenolan Caves, and we tell our guide that no, we don't believe in ghosts.

Well, not yet anyway.

The ghost talk crops up because a small number of us are about to begin the caves' Mysteries, Legends and Ghosts tour. It's said to be free of Hollywood-style gimmicks like sound effects, instead relying on true tales of ghostly sightings and unexplained goings-on to scare the hell out of cave-goers.

It seems the Jenolan Caves are so spectacular that some spirits never want to leave.

But first a bit about the caves themselves. Scientists recently discovered the network of limestone caves make up the world's oldest open cave system, dating back 340 million years.

The Aboriginal people named the caves, set in a secluded valley on the edge of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Reserve, Binoomea, or "Dark Places".

The first photo was taken during one of the St Bartholomew’s Church and Prospect Cemetery ghost tours.

The first question asked is how could someone be up that high, because the windows are abnormally high from ground level.

The photo was sent overseas for authenticity tests and they said to look above the face of ``child’’ at what appears to be an abnormal apparition of another face.

From Bryony: Without meaning to sound so skeptical and putting a downer on it I do have to wonder what "authenticity test" means and the process it goes through. What is it authenticating? I don't understand.
Anyway, I'd like to see another photo of the area that this was taken in so we can get a clearer picture of the area and how high off the ground this was etc. In my opinion it looks like the reflection of the photographer in the glass. Exotic feline or enduring phantom? Something big, something strange has been stalking the Blue Mountains for decades and it's back in the spotlight, Eamonn Duff reports.

PAUL CAUCHI and his girlfriend Naomi were in a celebratory mood.

The couple had just signed the paperwork for their new home near Mudgee but that's not why they will remember May 28, 2010.

''We were driving through Yarrawonga and Naomi saw it first,'' explained Mr Cauchi.

'''Look,' she said, 'Can you see that? … It's … it's a panther!'

''And the moment I saw it, I swore out loud in disbelief - because that's exactly what it was.''

The couple had ''a perfect seven- or eight-second view'' of the creature standing in front of them, outside a goat farm.

''I'd heard the stories but never believed a word of it,'' said Mr Cauchi. ''I've seen how big feral bush cats grow, but this was no feral cat. There is no mistaking, this was a panther. Now I'm thinking, how has this remained in doubt for so long?''

Bradley is a member of Ghost Hunters Australia and are currently filming a series about their team which will be available to view later in the year through a site called Triptych Concepts.
I thought it would be a good idea to get to know the man behind GHA a little better.

1.How did you become interested in the paranormal?

A: It all started fairly early for me, I was about 4 when we relocated to Gladstone in Central Queensland after the Ipswich floods of 1974, my parents bought 1950's housing commission house, you know the type, fibro construction, cold in winter, hot in summer but a great place to grow up in. It all started when I would see a mist making it's way up the hall and into my sisters room, I would be lying there at night watching shadows dance up and down the hall way, and it got worse had lights go on and off, Tv would turn it self on and off - remember back in the 70's we didn't have remote controls, the old stereo would start playing records all that type of stuff. I will admit it scared me shitless. The worst account I had was with what I believe to be the main thing causing the problems, I remember late one night my Dad had moved me into the main living area of the house due to a really bad storm, I would have been about 8 at this stage. I am lying on my mattress on the floor watch the lighting through the window when I heard a growl just behind me, it took me ages to get the courage to roll over and face the other side and when I did I saw sitting on the arm of the old lounge chair something that I will never forget. It was quite small but hunched over, very large claw like feet and very large eyes, just sitting there looking at me. I couldn't scream, couldn't move, just lay there watch it watch me. It took off from the lounge straight at me and then it was gone. We moved out of the house when I was about 12 and never saw it again but it didn't stop all the activity in the house. I guess from there it was learn as much as I could. We didn't have the internet or TV shows - I was all learnt from reading and asking questions.

2.How long have you been investigating the paranormal?

A: The main part of 18 years now. As I got older and my thirst for what is actually going on with the paranormal and strange events sort of took over, I wasn't happy following the rest of the crowed, mostly went out on my own, made a lot of mistakes, broke a lot of equipment doing stupid things, but from those days of doing it on my own I learnt the hard way on what and what not to do.

3.What was your inspiration for doing an Australian TV show?

A: Having the crap nagged out of me - no seriously, doing a TV show was the last thing on my mind, I did a series in NZ that did pretty well for a little production, so when I landed back in OZ I had numerous requests to do one from different production companies, remember I have been around for a while long before NZPI or GHA. But I just wasn't interested, because they all wanted their own spin on it. I told them all to go and take a running jump and get some other tool to make a dick out of themselves. Anyway, I was approached by Triptych Concepts and the reason why I am working with them is because I get to do it my way, no bullshit, no theatrics, no one gets possessed every episode, but a raw and honest look at what does go on within this field.

4.Whats the scariest moment you've had whilst investigating?

A: Wrights Hills Fort in Wellington, to cut a long story short myself and 2 friends decide to go down into the tunnels of the old fort, a big no no, but if there is adventure about what more can I say. Any way we climb down about 2 flights on a crappy old ladder and start checking the place out. The next second all our equipment goes dead, cameras, torches, EMF, everything all at the same time. So we are standing there in pitch darkness, no idea where the exits are, next we hear growing and scratching coming from the big steel doors, it wasn't an animal it was human! It only lasted about 15 seconds but it was enough to put the willies in up me, and I have been in some bad places, from Mental Hospitals, Warehouses, Tunnels you name it I have just about explored it in the name of Paranormal Research.

5.What is the one piece of equipment you can't go ghost hunting without?

A:To be honest even though I carry a lot of equipment, it can also be very distracting, stick me in a room with just myself and no equipment and just rely on my brain and I am happy. I know it sounds strange to some who would see all the TV shows out there but your body is the best gadget you have. You know within your gut when all hell is about to break loose.

6.What has been your favourite/most active/most interesting place you've investigated?

A: That is a tough one, each place that I have gone into that has shown true paranormal activity is always exciting. It doesn't matter if it is a big historic building or a tiny 1 bed room flat, it is the quality of the investigation that matters most. Between here and New Zealand there are many places that bring fond memories, like been scratched up and pushed over by un-seen entities, you can find most of these details on the website just look into past posts.

7.Has anything ever followed you home from an investigation?

A: Who would want to follow me home? I am a 6 foot 2, 100 kg grump with a mean streak to match. You learn very early on that you take no chances when it comes to the unknown. Protect your self and your team. I have just been lucky that my personality works for me, I have been called everything from the Bad Boy to a Hard Bastard and everything in between, but if that what it takes to know I come home on my own than that is fine with me. I won't lie, I have upset a lot of people with my approach, but it is my way of protecting myself and whomever is with me, but in the same tone we all have a great time doing it and a lot of fun. The day this turns into a job and isn't enjoyable anymore is the day I hang up my EMF Meter.

My spooky workplace

I've always found the place I work a bit spooky... Not so much the floor I work on (not that i'd want to be here alone) but the rest of the building. There are 5 floors here and we're on the fourth. The rest of the building is completely empty which provides quite the eerie experience when one has to go to any other floor.
Like I said, we're on the fourth floor. The building is strange because its built on a slope so level 3 is on street level. I have to go in and out of that floor at the beginning of the day and at the end. The morning is not so bad but leaving at night when its dark is pretty spooky. Turning around and turning the lights off, making sure no ones followed me etc. But generally that floor is okay. Its level 2 and Level 1 that give me the goosebumps. Level 2 is the car park and some empty offices along with our archive room. There is a really old air conditioning unit that takes up an entire room there. There is also a TONNE of electrical wires down there. So i attribute most of my eerie feelings to it being a "fear cage" and the strange pops and bangs to the old air con unit.

By the way the defintion of a fear cage is:
A term used to describe a confined area such as a walk in closet, hallway or basement with very high EMF readings. The combination of being close and confined with in an area of strong EMF often brings out extremely great feelings of uneasiness, anxiety, paranoia and/or uncontrollable fear. ...
or:
A confined area or room with a high EMF reading. This can cause hallucinations as well as headaches, body aches, nausea and paranoia. It is also thought to be an area conductive to strong paranormal activity.

Level one is by far the creepiest area....
Mainly because its practically like a basement. There are offices down there (empty of course) and a massive storeroom which we've just started to use. I HATE going down there because its dark, no lights on, no one around and there's just a weird feeling to it as though someone is right behind you. Again, I write this off as over imagination and watching to many horror movies ;)

The floor that I feel most comfortable on is the floor I work on but today someone I work with described some spooky experiences they've had when they've worked on the floor alone.
He described hearing someone enter the office as though it was one of his co-workers. He walks up the other end of the office to say hello and no one is there.
He's seen people walk into reception out of the corner of his eye but when he looks no one is there.
I wanted to talk to him further but really it wasn't the right time and I felt a little uncomfortable asking him as he's my boss and I didn't want him thinking I was slacking off work! ;-)
He described the noises of someone entering the office...which i'm assuming he meant either hearing a door open, the lift doors open or footsteps. Those noises can't be attributed to sounds from other offices as there is no one else in the building!

Anyway, I will keep my eyes open and my ears alert to any other stories.

The horned man and the luna park ghost train fire

After reading Pastor Baz's real life story about the ghosts at Luna Park, Sydney I thought I'd look up the invisible children of the magic kingdom ride. Instead of finding out about that I discovered a sinister twist in the already very tragic incident of the ghost train fire for which no cause was ever found.
In my internet search I came across a unexplained mysteries forum where the fire is mentioned along with a personal tale of a spooky happening at Luna Park (worth a read). What is said about the fire tradegy gave me goosebumps...

"In March of 1988, Sydneys "The Sun' Newspaper printed it's last ever Edition & the Front page featured an article: "Occult Link to Luna Park/Ghost Train fire". A Mother of one of the boys, killed in the fire, had submitted a photograph, taken at Circular Quay, where the Ferries take Passengers to Luna Park, on Lavender Bay. Her Son was standing next to a bizarre character, dressed in weird get up, with a Mask over his face & a Horned Headdress, his arm around the boy. This was just before they boarded the Ferry to journey over to Luna Park, on that fateful night. Mention was made of There having been a Full Moon, on the night of the fire & of "Bikies", for some obscure reason? But, the Mother firmly believed that a Sinister aspect had contributed to the cause of the fire."

I tried to find the newspaper article but couldn't in my brief search on the internet. The newspaper stopped printing in 1979 and I'm not sure if any are kept in archives? If anyone knows of a copy please get in touch.

I did however, come across an article on news.com.au that shows the photo of Damian with the horned figure. The article is promoting a book called Australian Tragic by Jack Marx.

Journalist and author Jack Marx has spent years researching Australia’s underbelly, shining a light on the quirks, misfortunes and tragic turns of fate they wouldn’t dare tell you about in school.

While waiting at Circular Quay for a ferry to take them to Sydney's Luna Park on June 9, 1979, the Godson family are approached by a Satanic-looking figure dressed in a loincloth and wearing a mask with horns. The creature voicelessly places his hand on young Damian Godson's shoulder. Somebody snaps a photograph. It is the last photograph of the boy ever taken - hours later, Damian, his brother, Craig, and his father, John, will burn in the fire that sweeps through The Ghost Train. Nobody will ever see the horned man again.

The title of that section is Moloch which means: (Wikipedia Moloch)

Moloch is either the name of a god or the name of a particular kind of sacrifice associated with fire.

There are various references to Moloch, one is -

"Though the Moloch sacrifices have traditionally been understood to mean burning children alive to the god Moloch, some have suggested a rite of purification by fire instead, though perhaps a dangerous one"

It is referenced in the bible -

"The word here translated literally as 'seed' very often means offspring. The forms containing mlk have been left untranslated. The reader may substitute either "to Moloch" or "as a molk".

The laws given to Moses by God expressly forbade the Israelites to do what was done in Egypt or in Canaan. “You shall not give any of your children to devote them by fire to Moloch, and so profane the name of your God” (Lev. 18:21).

The exact cause of the fire could not be determined by a coronial inquiry. The coroner also ruled that, while the actions of Luna Park's management and staff before and during the fire, in particular choosing to not follow advice on the installation of a sprinkler system in the ride, breached duty of care, charges of criminal negligence should not be laid. The case was reopened in 1987: no new findings were made, although the police investigation and coronial inquiry were criticised. The fire forced the closure of Luna Park until 1982, when it reopened under a new name and new owners.

Was it arson by underworld figures? From Wikipedia:

In May 2007, Anne Buckingham, a niece of Sydney underworld figure Abe Saffron, claimed in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald that her uncle was responsible for the fire. Saffron had previously been associated with seven other arson attacks in the two years following the Ghost Train fire, although he had repeatedly denied involvement with the Ghost Train fire.^[2]^[8] Buckingham claimed the attack was part of a plan for Saffron to gain control of Luna Park's lease, although she stated the belief that the seven deaths were not intended.^[8]

Or was it something more sinister? I'm not sure we'll ever know what happened that day but I pray that the victims families do find some kind closure.

Psychic Medium says St Marks ghost photo is probably not real

Macarthur Chronicle POLICE medium Debbie Malone has revealed she does not believe ghosts photographed at St Mark’s Anglican cemetery in January were “real”.

Port Macquarie resident Renee English’s photo of two alleged ghost children created international headlines after it was taken during a Picton ghost tour on January 9.

But Mrs Malone said ghost photographs did not generally feature such well-formed figures.

“Photographed spirit energies generally tend to be in the form of an orb or ectoplasm, which looks like a fog,” she said.

“I’ve seen the photos, but I’m very sceptical.”

But Mrs Malone insisted Picton was “crawling” with ghosts, which she believes is due to the town’s age and heritage atmosphere.

A NEW report has cast doubt on the so-far inexplicable UFO sightings at Chipping Norton.

UFO researcher Bill Chalker recently recreated conditions the night mother-of-two Fiona Hartigan snapped a series of mysterious photos.
Mr Chalker’s findings were published in the magazine Ufologist last week.
He said possible explanations could be found in a nearby street light and a reflection from a car window. “There is enough in these photos to argue that it’s a reflection either from the window or the lens,” he told the Leader.
“The photo analysis and the location analysis bring up all this uncertainty. It’s not 100 per cent.”

UFO Sighting Over Geelong, VIC updated

The footage shows balls of light flying over Corio Bay at great speed, dipping as low as street level before zig-zagging back up through the sky.

Until the mid 17th Century Erie Pennsylvania held the tribal center of the Eriez Indians. The name Eriez or Erie is a shorter form of the Iroquoian word "Erielhonan" meaning literally "long tail" referring to the native panther skins that many of the tribe wore ceremonially. The panther (cougar or mountain lion) was the native Eriez totem. They honored and emulated the stealthy cats that were the top of the contemporary indigenous food chain. Although a small tribe when compared to their neighbors the Seneca or Susquehannocks, they stood boldly against larger enemies and welcomed refugees from neighboring wars. this did not make them very popular with the other tribes in the area and by the late 17th century the Eriez tribe had been either wiped out by war or assimilated by the Iroquois. Within a century the large panthers that were the totem of the Eriez had also vanished from the lands of North Western Pennsylvania.

Share your UFO stories below...

A couple of questions I have about this story:
The report says she just got out of her car when she took the photos - why then is there a reflection in the photo as though it was taken through glass?
Its claimed to be a busy street - why aren't there any other witnesses?

There is a second photo that goes with the story and I find that one slightly more convincing.
In the second photo there is a smaller object in the background and I can't see reflections as though it was taken through glass, so this one might have been taken out side of the car like the report says.

But speaking honestly, from just looking at the photos it looks like a piece of fluff or dust on the lens or on the window of the car.

I have an iphone and apparently this is what the lady used to take the photo. I thought I would test the theory out as to whether its dust/dirt on the lens so I just stuck a crumb on the lens and tried to take a picture. It does not show up! This big old crumb will not show up on the photo! Bizzarre.
If its dirt, dust or a bug it must be on the windscreen.

This may sound ridiculous but it kinda looks like a snail?

Bill Chalker, who has spent 35 years investigating UFO sightings and alien abductions, believes Fiona Hartigan's sighting reported yesterday is almost certainly genuine. He's not the only one.

Almost 60 per cent of readers who voted online said they believed in UFOs, while others told of multiple sightings in the Blue Mountains or strange lights hovering over rural NSW.

Mother-of-two Anne Hamnett said she witnessed a bizarre incident at her isolated property near Gloucester on Sunday night.

She and her children were out the front of the house just hours after Ms Hartigan's sighting when two brightly lit objects appeared.

They stayed in the area for about 30 minutes before disappearing.

"I've never believed UFO stuff before but I haven't ever seen anything like this," she said.

"They were orange-red in colour and perfectly in line with each other - I just can't explain it." "

Premonitions

I've had this blog entry on hold for months now and for some reason never posted it, maybe because some people might find it controversial, but here it is...

I've opened up the floor to talk about premonitions and your thoughts and views...

Here are my thoughts on Premonitions

Someone recently told me of a dream they had and they were fearful that it would come true. Half jokingly i asked them if they were psychic - he told me he had had dreams that had come true.
I had a dream once about my front tooth kind of falling apart and crumbling and it was a really realistic intense dream. My mother in law told me that dreams of teeth falling out etc means someone is going to die. I kind of shrugged it off. Two days later my Grandad passed away and it was the next day I remembered the dream I had had and got goosebumps. The rational half of my brain told me it was all coincedence but I couldnt help thinking that maybe just maybe a part of my mind knew something before I conciously knew.

I've been reading a book called "the complete approach" by Dustin Pari and Barry Fitzgerald from Ghost Hunters Intl. There is a part in the book where they describe an experiment that has shown that the skin reacts split seconds before something "bad" happened. For example the experiment was this: the participant had electrodes attached to the skin on the arm. They were shown photos of nice things and then randomly a photo of something horrible or disturbing". Apparently the skin would show a reaction to the horrible photo moments BEFORE the photo was actually seen by the eye.

What does this experiment tell us? im not sure but is it possible the body just instictively knows things before we know it consciously?

There are tonnes of other theories out there that give answers to why we have premonitions, one is that it is our guardian angels or God sending us a warning-
Id like to think these dreams we have or the sense of warning we get is from God but i can't prove that. I mean even if its in our chemistry and our make up i believe we are built in His image and who we are and what we are and what we can do is because of what He's made us and His gift of the Holy Spirit.

Here is a great verse from the bible telling us what gifts are from God.

1 Corinthians chapter 12 v 4-13

4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

So it does mention in the bible "the message of knowledge" and "prophecy" as gifts from God. i don't think we get given ALL the gifts (we'd be superman) and some gifts might be given and taken away at times when we need them. I think its also important to remind myself that not all things we experience and see are from God. We have to be discerning as to whether its from God or something else (just my opinion).

What are your theories as to what premonitions are? Is it God? Angels? Something negative? Or is it that part of the brain we've not discovered yet and we've had these gifts since birth? Is there a scientific explanation for premonitions? Or is it something we'll never understand?

I asked a few friends if they'd ever had premonitions that had come true. Here are there stories:

My friend dreamt that he met an old work colleague at a funeral of a friend. The funeral actually happened in real life and he experienced a mixture of shock and deja vu, the deja vu continued and the events at the funeral mirrored his dream. It was only after meeting his work mate there that it hit him that he had been there before.

Another friend told me about how she dreamt that back in 1979 Peter Frampton (the singer for the band Humble Pie) died. IN her dream she had died and was in heaven, she was allowed to go and see loved ones on earth. She walked down what appeared to be a huge ramp to a large arena and everyone was meeting there loved ones. She kept walking and was getting a bit scared. Finally she came to a room with a table and Peter Frampton was lying on it dead. About a month or so later he actually had a car accident and came very close to death.

Another friend who believes in spirit guides told me the following:

The first one that stands out was a dream of a fire and someone dying in it and the family I knew. I woke up a little freaked out, fire sirens going off. I told my dad whose house it was and that someone had died, I turned the scanner on and it was that house and someone did die.
The most recent was my grandpa crossing over - time will tell on that one.
Then I have my cats spirit guide who talks to me in my dreams. She will tell me what is wrong with my cat before the vets can physically see it. My spirit guide tells me about my health, that comes via my dreams as well. I get a lot of de ja vue as well. Even when in strange places for the first time.

Another person said this in answer to the question "Has anyone ever had a premonition that has come true?":

Yeah...a few but no time right now to properly address them. I am fully pursauded that unless the Spirit speaks to us in a Scriptural manner and with Scriptural purpose...that ALL intuition and psychic phenomenon, is demonic knowledge and temptation of one degree or another. Since we are in a sinful fallen condition, the intuition that most people experience and probably all could experience, I do after many years believe is the devil trying to draw us into the occult. Even when it is seemingly a good thing such as solving murder cases. No matter how big or how small. I find there to be a fundamental difference of feeling or sensation when inuition happens to me, than when the Spirit alerts me. The intuition (psychic thing) has a tendency to be self promoting and appeal to the ego at least some. It puffs up because it imediately breeds pride. When the Holy Spirit speaks to me, I find it completely humbling and I have a sensation of shrinking and awe rather than expansion and pride. I will leave it at that right now but this is something that has intricately and intimately interested and concerned me my whole life and especially since salvation. I no longer seperate intuition from the whole psychic thing. Not at all.

Here's another story from a friend:

i have had numerous ones about people that i dont even know dying just days after i had them in the exact way that i saw it. i didnt know most of these people directly.

example, i had a friend who's mom that i had never met die of a heart attack 3 days after i dreamt of her dying in her home of a heart attack, collapsed on the kitchen floor... she died of a heart attack in her home in her kitchen, found on the floor. completely unexpected.

then, just about 2.5weeks ago i dreamt of my best friends aunt died, again, never met her... she died within minutes of me having that dream. before my friends even told me that she had passed, i knew it.

but the first time i really remember it happening and me connecting it to maybe i actually dream real stuff was when my gramps died. i dreamt that we were at a playground that we always went to and we were talking and then he just walked away and disapeared, he died the exact moment that i saw him walk away and vanish. the phone rang and i already knew what it was gonna say.

its not always death, i mean i see car wrecks and things that end up happeing or people i have no connection to getting hurt, like ill see that got shot on the news and see the face and then be like, hmm... i know that guy, o yea, i saw that in my dream.

ive seen some people i know get hurt in my dreams and even had some people that i really really care for, die in them... not come true yet, and i pray that it doesnt, but most all of my dreams have.

Its pretty clear that there are many many different thoughts and views about premonitions. Who's right? Who's wrong? Im not sure we'll ever know. Still, it's pretty interesting. Please share with me your thoughts and any experiences you've had.

Spirits can easily masquerade as a loved one and in turn lead you in a direction further away from God and His plan for your life. The easiest way to put it is that God created you in His image with a purpose and destiny in Him and His kingdom so God wrote the instruction manual for you and your life so who better to ask for guidance that the designer! If you bought a new Television you wouldn’t want to read a Washing Machine Manual to set it up! The enemy on the other hand will deceive at any opportunity if it means leading a person away from God’s grace,salvation and plan for your life.

The last time I visited a Clairvoyant was January 2004. Why would I remember the exact date? Read on to find out!

I was staying in Tammworth for the Country Music Festival when I stumbled across a Physic Fair. Why not I thought. I paid my money and took my place at a small table across from a man in his 40’s. I was ready to hear what the future had in store for me and was single at the time so keen to hear of the prospect of a new relationship. The man reached across the table and took my hands in his, closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. “Here we go” I was thinking. Already sceptical of what he was going to say.

A minute passed and suddenly the man jolted back in his chair at the same time letting go of my hands. His eyes were wide as dinner plates and the blood drained out of his face. I was feeling pretty shocked and scared at that moment. What on earth had he seen?

His voice quivering he stammered out the words “Jesus is with you”. I remember smiling at him and saying “I know” as a feeling of amazing peace flooded through my entire body. He repeated “No..you don’t understand” “Jesus is REALLY with you”. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and again smiled and said to him “Yes I know”.

At any moment I thought this guy was going to drop off the chair!

He then said “ No Jesus is standing right next to you! I saw Him!”.

I smiled and said to the guy “ Well I guess thats all I really need to know” and I thanked him and got up and left leaving him sitting as white as a sheet with his mouth open to the floor.. I skipped around all day knowing that Jesus was with me!

Just 3 months after this happened I met a lady who began sharing the Gospel with me. I picked up a bible for the first time in my life (other than short stints of reading in hotels over the years).

My friend had advised me to pray before reading the bible that God would reveal His truth to me. I never forget praying and opening the pages and there staring back at me in red was the following scripture spoken by Jesus. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." -- John 14:6

As I read each day the words literally jumped off the pages! I discovered that the spiritual hunger I had felt for years, the same hunger which drove me to study many religions and occult practices was now finally being fed. Reading for hours each day I discovered that through the bible God was speaking directly to me and showing me His love for me and the plan he had for my life.

Ghost Hill Road, Bilpin

I stumbled across this article in the Sydney Morning Herald about Ghost Hill Road, Bilpin. The article itself only mentions the haunting briefly before talking about 3 cottages there that offer yoga, spas etc.
The most interesting bit of the article (to me) is the beginning where it says...

It's one of those gruesome historical accounts that could hardly be more different from the present day: according to legend, an Aboriginal woman showed European settlers a previously unknown route from the Hawkesbury to the top of the Blue Mountains but paid dearly for her actions. Branded a traitor by her tribe, the woman was stoned to death and her spirit was left to haunt the region for eternity. The route she showed the settlers became known as Ghost Hill Road.

What a sad tale...

The Angel Apparition

I lost a cousin to suicide about 12 years ago. Justin was just 21. A few years after his death I was at my Auntie's house (his mum) I was talking about Justin and how much I missed him.
My Auntie was hesitant but asked me to her bathroom to show me something. It was kind of weird. She pointed to a tile over the bathroom tap and said look there and see what you can see. I looked at the tile and it looked like any other tile to me. In my head I thought "nope I dont see anything" I was just about to let those exact words leave my mouth when presto! There on the tile was a perfect apparition of an angel sitting with legs crossed and wearing a t-shirt (you could see the outline of a fitted tshirt and wings were outstretched behind.)
I seriously nearly fell on the floor. My Auntie then took me to their lounge room and showed me a black and white professional photo that Justin had done right before his death. There was a photo of him sitting in the exact position with the exact t-shirt on, the only difference was in the black and white photo he had no wings.

Remember: I saw the tile before I saw the photo and the apparition was a replica of the photo.

Do I believe in apparitions.......??

Absolutely!

Do I know why they appear or from what source?

No.

When I was eight years old I can remember very clearly waking up and
seeing the spirit of a young girl in the doorway of my bedroom. I was
very frightened and ran into my mother and father and told them I had
seen a ghost but got the whole "you were imagining it" spiel.

She was a figure shaped spirit with a fuzzy type outline.

I can't remember any other occurences until I was 15. I was in my
bedroom and I heard someone calling me out the front of my parents
house. I went to see who it was, saw noone and got scared so I waited
out front until everyone got home.

Then during that same year, I was on the telephone to a friend and we
were mucking about on the telephone and I was saying how funny would
it be if the television fell off it's stand... How much it would annoy
my father. Well, after I got off the telephone and was in the family
room out the front of the house, the television screen, not the whole
telly, just the screen fell off the tv and smashed into pieces.
Needless to say I completely freaked out. Who knows if it was a spirit
or my energy but I never joked about that kind of thing again.

I had a few minor 'sensings' over the years and once told a friend in
a pub the winning keno numbers as they were being called.

Then I went to the Quarantine Station for the first time in 2007. I
felt slightly uncomfortable but kept myself quite closed off. I was in
one of the rooms when I felt someone playing with my hair. It was a
bit spooky but I was completely excited.

I went again a year later and had a lot of feelings. I felt odd in one
of the rooms, very anxious and uncomfortable - someone was there. Then
we moved to another building. My sister saw the matron. Then onto
another building where I felt very wired. I saw a spirit standing at
the back of a hallway. He was like a shadow. Then I really opened
myself up and willed him to show himself. Everyone was exploring where
a few of us had first seen him. I was back in the first room and saw
the spirit poke it's head around the doorway. He was on the verandah.
I said to the medium on the tour, he's on the verandah. He confirmed
this and we saw him standing in the corner.

It was approx another year before we went back. This time on the
spirit investigator tour where we could use equipment to detect the
spirits. This was definitely the weirdest experience I ever had. I
immediately could feel if there was a presence or not and when I felt
the presence, the meters were going of the charts. I got touched on
the hand in the shower blocks. Then when we visited the hospital area
of the quarantine station, I suddenly felt quite ill, almost like
seasickness. I was being pushed and pulled all at once. It was as if
something was attacking me and I was so incredibly petrified. The
mediums took me away from the group. They said I had an attachment and
that it was called a shapeshifter. One of the mediums was detaching
the spirit while the other lady was sitting with me praying. We said
the lords prayer together and I felt stronger and stronger. The medium
had detached the spirit and life since then has improved a million
fold. It was as if a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders and
I was ALIVE again.

That weekend I white saged our house as our son had been saying for
some time that he had been seeing either a scary lady or a little
black girl with burnt hands. He said the girl would be in bed next to
him. I told whatever had been in our house that it was not welcome at
all and told it rather sternly to get out, it didn't belong there.
This was our house, not it's house and it should go.

I have seen orbs since then which were purple in colour. Whenever they
appear I'm in a certain room. Our son the other week said that he saw
red lights floating around his room. I have told him if he sees them
again to tell them to go away. I don't mind the good spirits but the
bad ones can go thank you very much!

The Blue Mountains Ghost Tour - My Review

On Saturday night a group of us went on the blue mountains ghost tour. We all met up in Katoomba and hopped on the mini bus. First stop after about 20 minutes or so of driving into the bush was at a cemetery from the 1820's. Im not sure if it was the fact that we were in the middle of nowhere that was unnerving me or all the talk of a negative spirit there but i did NOT like that place. As i walked down the long path to the cemetery my chest felt tight and just very uncomfortable. This happened the whole time we walked around but once we walked back out through the gate I felt fine. Very strange. Whilst in there we were told some of the stories about who were buried there. I was disturbed to hear that aboriginals were not allowed to be buried in there as it was consegrated ground!

There's apparently a negative spirit (who's name escapes me) who likes to strangle people and push people. Another story is there is an "angel light or orb" that is seen floating through the graveyard.
We were asked to be totally silent and turn all our torches off to see if we would see/hear anything. As we stood there a lot of the group pointed out a faint light that was at the opposite end of the graveyard. Three of us couldn't see it and the rest could. Was a shame I couldn't see it but at that moment in time I didn't really want to see anything! People could see I didn't want to be there as normally im all chatty and interested in whats going on but i was pretty subdued and quiet so the pastor and his wife that was with us prayed some protective prayers for me and i felt a little better. We moved on to another grave and one of the group felt their shirt tugged a couple of times. We also had K2 hits in various places in the graveyard. By that point we'd turned all our mobiles off so not sure what caused them.

Apart from a possum making its presence felt (and making us all jump) nothing more happened at that grave yard.

We all hopped back on the bus and went on our merry way.

Next stop (after picking up snacks from the servo) was at a courthouse and jail.

There were reports that a little girl had died in there and one of the previous residents (it was turned into a house at one point) was haunting there. Had zero K2 hits in the courthouse and during the time we were all silent there was no sounds or weird sightings. It was very cool to see the courthouse though.

Next we went next door to the jail. This place was a little more eerie with reports of doors slamming and things being moved. We had a couple of random K2 hits which we couldn't account for except there was a cupboard nearby with a lot of electrics in which could have set it off but the k2 hits weren't consistent. Strange indeed. The jail itself was interesting to see as it had lots of carvings in the wood of the people who were put in there. Worth a see.

Next stop was the hanging tree. This is where supposedly a lot of convicts were hung. They'd build the road and then be hung on this tree. Nothing happened around here accept us disturbing the campers (its in the middle of a campsite).

The last stop on the tour was at The Wells. Now for the life of me i can't remember what this place was except there were unmarked graves and some large wells. Anyway, there were a couple of odd K2 hits. We had the few minutes silence/torches off and nothing really happened except being attacked by a bat. The frogs who were extremely loud became silent a couple of times which was definately eerie but not sure if that was anything paranormal. Apparently other tours have experienced the most paranormal activity there including lights and apparitions. It must have been a quiet night for us though. By that point we were all sleepy and ready to go home. We hopped back on the bus and got dropped back to Katoomba where we went our seperate ways. Overall a good night.

Now i don't know if its just me but does this child that showed up in different photos from different people look similar? Am i going crazy or what? ;)

4th floor of the Stanley Hotel, Estes Park Colorado - hotel where Stephen King was inspired to write the Shining. 4th floor is said to be haunted by children. Photo taken with Nikon Cool Pix, 5:30pm in the evening, children seen in the hallway with their hands out were part of a history tour group we were with. Tour guide had asked these two in the hallway to hold their hands out and asked if any ghost children were present to come forward and to hold their hands. We took photos - my shock to see what showed up in the lower left corner of the photo. ISO 400. No reflective surfaces near the camera. No small children in our group.

Now the skeptical side of me goes "awww come on the bluish photo could be of anything??" but then I see Sharons photo and i thought "hang on a sec, the faces look similar"?

Below are two "ghost" photos i found in the news today. I posted them on the weekly news bit of the www.ccapsg.blogspot.com blog but I thought I would also post them here. I am interested to hear your opinions on these...

Mine is the first is a trick of the light ie matrixing. I think the background (trees maybe) have formed in such a way and with the light shining through the branches it suggests to our mind its a face. Pretty creepy though.

The second photo is interesting but because of the motion blur it is too hard to tell what it is. Maybe if there was a photo of that area that wasn't blurred we might be able to reference which parts of the photo should be there and which aren't. It'd also be interesting to hear if there had been any activity in the house before or not?

Getting to know your Paranormal Investigators: Interview with Sydney Paranormal Society's founder Holly Butler

Very recently i met a girl through facebook called Holly who's also interested in the paranormal, is also from Sydney and has set up a group called Sydney Paranormal Society.

How long have you been involved with the paranormal?

I have been involved with the paranormal since I was 4 years of age but became serious about investigating after watching The X-Files when I found it on TV in 2000.

What prompted you to start your own paranormal group?

I started SPS because i found that there were over 50 people on a site called meetup.com who were interested in the paranormal and wanted to give them a group to belong to and also because I found that there were a lot of like-minded people who wanted to do some investigating and SPS would give them the chance to.

What paranormal experiences have you had?

I have heard voices and seen full bodied apparitions, shadows and had entities touch me on the hand.

What are your plans for the future of the group?

I plan to make a sub branch of SPS called Sydney International Paranormal Phenomena who would obviously go and do investigations overseas. I also plan to take SPS to the US and UK to conduct some joint investigations with a number of groups over there who have expressed interest in having us come over and join them.

If someone is experiencing paranormal activity - what is your advise for them?

My advice for anyone who thinks they are experiencing paranormal activity is to write down when where and what the activity is ie 'Bedroom 9pm - saw pencil on desk move of its own accord' and keep a log. If it starts getting out of hand ie they start getting violent reactions ie hair pulling, face slapping, being pushed down stairs, doors slammed in face etc, then we are more than happy to come out and do a full investigation at no cost to them.

Experiences with the Paranormal: My friends ghost

I had a copy of Seeking Spirits - a book by Jay and Grant from TAPS Ghosthunters in my bag and it started a conversation with my friend about ghosts.
She confided in me that a few times now she's woken up and seen an old man standing by her bed and once leaning over the cot where her daughter sleeps. I asked a few questions like was it just a shadow? But she said the man had features and he didnt look very nice. She'd only ever seen it at night and just as she woke up. Could it be she was halucinating/dreaming or sleep deprived? - Yes it totally could be that, being sleep deprived can do funny things to people. But she had seen this figure for up to half an hour at a time!
I told her if it hadn't done anything manevolant she shouldn't be too scared. If anything it appeared to be watching out for her. Maybe it was her guardian angel? Could be a human spirit? or a residual haunting?

My paranormal experiences

When i was in Australia backpacking we were staying in this little place in the outback, population of 5. but it had a pub and a hostel. i was sharing a room with my mate rich and this other guy called Rob who was on the tour with us (a group of us were on a bus tour from adelaide to alice springs, stopping at places of interest on the way). it was our first night and we were all pretty tired since we'd got up so early that morning. anyway, we got to bed about midnight possibly a bit earlier. I was in the top bunk. At about 4 in the morning i woke up and could hear a voice, it was kind of a loud whisper. it said something like "look at the door", or "there's someone at the door". I looked at the door and there was this dark figure standing there. i couldnt see features or anything, just this mass of black and It was just standing there. Now the door had been shut when we went to sleep because of the mozzys etc. How did it open (no one in the room said they left it open)? and who was stood there? i screamed some expletives and it just dissappeared. My friends didnt hear or see a thing except me screaming my lungs out. I was definately awake and the voice i heard was real.

Another thing i've experienced is when i baby sit for a mate i always think i see a kid from the corner of my eye down the corridor so i think one of them is up. they never are. i also always hear footsteps upstairs but theyre always in bed... i dont feel particularly scared though. I never told her because i didn't want to freak her out.

Once when i was at School we went on a tour of an old theatre called the theatre royal in Portsmouth. There is a HUGE painting above the stage and at one point i saw the eyes of this evil pumpkin looking thing moving...scared me a lot!

I went on a ghost tour in The Rocks in Sydney. In one part we were underground in this ruined cottage and we were all taking photos and stuff and i kept hearing this scream. I thought it was someones phone or something and dismissed it. After we came out the tour guide and asked if we'd heard anything. i said i'd heard screaming and others had heard it too. It wasn't anyones phone and the sound from the street didnt really carry down to where we are.

Of course all these experiences could be debunked and i have no evidence to prove them but something weird was going on in these instances. Also all these little things added up to get me interested in the paranormal.
